  MEET JANE M. BRAUGH

Originally from Sarita, Texas, Jane M. Braugh received her B.A. in English from the University of Kentucky. She attended law school at the University of Houston, Law Center in Houston, Texas, graduating in 1994. During law school, Jane M. Braugh studied abroad in Innsbruck Austria and Mexico City, Mexico, where she completed a law internship at Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), Mexico’s state-owned petroleum company.

After obtaining her juris doctorate degree, Jane M. Braugh was appointed Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas in the Financial Crimes Division, and practiced in Austin, Texas from May 1995 through December 1999. While an Assistant Attorney General, Jane M. Braugh co-authored the Texas County and District Attorney’s Practice Guide on Asset Seizure and Forfeiture, drafted proposed legislation and testified before Legislative committees regarding pending legislation.

Jane M. Braugh then transferred her practice to Southern California in January 2000 where she initially worked for Belin, Rawlings & Bedal, of Brentwood, California and later associated with Artiano, Guzman & Toomey of Torrance, California with a focus in complex business disputes and environmental law.  Later, Jane M. Braugh was exclusively, Of Counsel and managing attorney of Sico, Hoelscher, Harris & Braugh, LLP’s California office, where her practice focused on a variety of complex litigation matters involving catastrophic injury, product liability, premises liability, vehicular and trucking accidents, aircraft litigation, workplace accidents, and a variety of business and commercial disputes.

Presently, Jane M. Braugh provides legal services to individual clients, businesses and law firms, and is Of Counsel to various law firms within and outside of California who engage in complex litigation and high value claims.

Jane M. Braugh is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the State Bar of California.  She is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern, and Western Districts of Texas, as well as the Central District of California. Jane M. Braugh is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Jane M. Braugh, a Native American, is also a member of the judiciary. In 2004, Jane M. Braugh was elected District Court Judge of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation (CPN) of which she is a tribal member, where she served until 2010.  On June 26, 2010, Jane M. Braugh was elected Associate Supreme Court Justice of the CPN Supreme Court where she remains serving for multiple consecutive terms.

Highlighted Representative Experience

Successfully represented, the family of William Moreno, an 11-year-old boy who died as a result of an automotive retailer’s negligent installation of a twelve-year-old recalled tire.  The case resulted in a jury verdict of $18 million.

Successfully represented, a 42-year-old mother catastrophically injured as a result of a rollover accident, whose child, also died in the accident. The case resulted in a significant confidential settlement.

Successfully represented, the widower and beneficiary of a life insurance policy against a major insurance company, who was wrongfully denied death benefits under a life insurance policy after his wife died from breast cancer.  The case resulted in a significant confidential settlement.

Successfully represented a paparazzi photographer against an A-list celebrity in a dispute over privacy rights with regard to provocative photographs taken by the photographer.

Successfully represented a high net worth individuals and businesses in a commercial real estate property dispute.
